The five-story Mountlake Terrace Transit Center accommodates nearly 900 vehicles at the 236th Street SW exit from I-5. The parking garage connects via a pedestrian bridge to the Freeway Station in the median of I-5 for catching Seattle-Everett express busses operated by Sound Transit.

Although the city has been substantially developed, there are about 254 acres of commercial and light industrial areas that provide opportunities for quality infill and redevelopment. The city is diversifying and rebuilding its Town Center economy through the Town Center Subarea Plan process.
