Link Light Rail Service Expected in 2024

Construction of the Sound Transit Mountlake Terrace Light Rail Station is underway. Rail guideways to and through the city are being installed.

After the Northgate extension opens in 2021, the Lynnwood Link Extension will bring light rail into Snohomish County, serving four stations: Shoreline South/148th, Shoreline North/185th, Mountlake Terrace and Lynnwood City Center. Upon opening in 2024, riders will enjoy fast, frequent and reliable service between south Snohomish County and the University of Washington, downtown Seattle, the Eastside, Sea-Tac Airport and more.

Follow the Route from Northgate to Lynnwood

  • Open: 2024
  • Length: 8.5 miles, 4 stations
  • Service: Every 4 - 6 minutes during peak hours.
  • Projected travel times:
     Mountlake Terrace to downtown Seattle: 28 minutes
     Mountlake Terrace to University of Washington: 11 minutes
     Mountlake Terrace to downtown Bellevue: 48 minutes
  • Projected ridership: 47,000 – 55,000 daily riders by 2026

Recap of January 23, 2019 Open House

A public open house, hosted by the City of Mountlake Terrace, was conducted on January 23, 2019. Construction of the Sound Transit Light Rail Station, project elements and guideway location were discussed. Additionally, public comment was gathered.
